3.2.3 Automatic water pumps
Automatic water pumps
Automatic water pumps refers to automatic water sets used for supplying drinking water to households, summer cottages and smaller farms. The water is normally taken from a well with a suction lift for the pump of 3-7 m. The pump’s volume flow and pressure head are adapted for 1 to 3 tapping points connected to the pump by relatively short pipelines or hoses.
The set is made up of a self priming pump, (turbine or liquid ring type), an electric motor, a hydrophore (pressure tank) or usually a pressure cell provided with a diaphragm and automatic equipment. This automatic equipment ensures that the pump starts when the pressure falIs due to water being drawn off and stops when the pressure cell has filled up due to the corresponding increase in pressure.
There are many different makes and models on the market — figure 3.23a. When purchasing, account should be taken of the noise level as well as the fact that the water set should fulfill current electrical legal requirements.
