Viscosity of thixotropic alkydes
Viscosity of alkydes at various temperatures. Thixotropic alkydes follow these curves above 60°C but consist of gel below 60°C. They should therefore be pumped at temperatures over 60°C or, at temperatures below, must be agitated immediately prior to pumping.
Measurements of at temperatures below 60°C for thixotropic liquids such as alkydes, paints and lacquers has to be carried out using a high shear velocity viscometer.
